U.S. Capitol Police Look at Threats Against Sen. Reid

Former Nevada Lt. Gov. and state Treasurer Brian Krolicki says he's weighing a run against U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in 2016 if Gov. Brian Sandoval bypasses the race.

Krolicki says he'll wait to see if fellow Republican Sandoval decides to take on Reid.

He told the Nevada Appeal he still has a "public service gene" in him after completing eight years each as lieutenant governor and state treasurer.

The 54-year-old Krolicki says he thinks public service is a "noble calling" and won't shed that belief just because he was forced to leave office because of term limits.

His final day as lieutenant governor was Dec. 31.

Krolicki considered challenging Reid in 2010 but bowed out when he was indicted on charges stemming from his handling of a state-run college savings program during his tenure as treasurer. The charges were later dismissed.
