The red carpet event in Reno celebrated a lot of individual visions of the Truckee Meadows. And while those who organized it say it started as a joke among friends turned into quite a successful community effort.
“We got 2000 photos from 500 people!” said Chelsie Rose Kern, one of the event's organizers. “There was a lot of support. Not only did we meet our goal but we also got to see a lot of beautiful views of the Truckee Meadows area.”
Instagram is a social network for sharing pictures. Think Twitter, but with images instead of text. They handed out awards in 22 categories tonight including selfies, portraits of strangers and motel life.
Proceeds from the Instagrammys will go to the Holland Project in Reno.
