The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a man wanted in connection with an attempted kidnapping involving the suspect's ex-girlfriend that occurred earlier in the evening.
Deputies say 35-year-old Richard “Rich” Brereton broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and threatened her with a gun. Deputies say he also threatened three members of her family. Two of them were able to take Brereton's gun.
Deputies say he then ran away and was later spotted him in field east of St. Louis Road/Emigrant Way where he was arrested around 8:30 a.m.
Brereton was booked into the Lyon County Detention Center on charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and burglary.
