The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating an alleged note that threatened a well site in the Dayton area earlier this week.
Lyon County says the Lyon County Utilities Department discovered a note on Tuesday that threatened the "sanctity" of a well site in Dayton water service area.
Utilities staff then notified the Sheriff's Office and a criminal investigation was initiated.
The next day Lyon County requested assistance from the State of Nevada to verify the well had not been tampered with. The County says the Nevada National Guard Civil Team was dispatched and took samples and verified that the well site had not been compromised.
The threatened well site had been shut down earlier in the year and there was no threat of contamination to the water system.
The County says the investigation is ongoing.
