The Carson City Sheriff's Office says a man was taken into custody for child abduction on May 4.

Officials said 24-year-old Kahlil Williams was in the area of his families residence on Hot Springs Road when he allegedly abducted a minor under the age of 14 and took her to a location where he attempted to sexually assault her. They said the minor was released and reported the incident to her family, who contacted the authorities. Officials said detectives worked throughout the day confirming the information and by late afternoon they were able to provide a public safety press information release. They said within minutes of the release, the Sheriff's Office received a tip that a person matching the description provided was in Mills Park, near a skate park.

Officials said detectives were able to find Williams and had probable cause to arrest him.

Carson City Sheriff's Office says William has an extensive residency in the Bay Area and he is known to have lived for frequented the Reno, Sparks and Carson City areas for several years. Officials said he has family who are in Carson City and he may have been in the community for a limited time before the alleged abduction took place. They said he has an extensive arrest history, including acts of domestic violence and being a fugitive from justice.

Officials said Williams is being charged with kidnapping, attempted sexual assault of a minor under 14, lewdness with a minor under 14 and false imprisonment. His bail is at $250,000.
