A Reno resident died in a head-on crash on Mt. Rose Highway near Douglas Fir Drive earlier this month. 

Nevada Highway Patrol says a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek was heading west, when it went into oncoming traffic and collided with an eastbound 2004 GMC Yukon, near Washoe County mile marker 17. 

The front passenger of the Subaru, 29-year-old Nikolas Emerson died on scene in the August 6th crash.

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue responded since both cars caught on fire after the crash. It did not spread to the wildland.

This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - NHP Case #210800370.
