CNN Reports that Michelin and General Motors (GM) are teaming up to create a new, airless tire.

They say the prototype is called Uptis, which stands for "Unique Puncture-proof Tire System."

The prototype looks like an regular tire, but has no sidewalls, instead featuring treads in the middle.

GM claims the tires are better for drivers and the environment and eliminate blowouts and flats.

CNN says the tires will be tested on roads later this year.
