With 28 years of experience working with Carson City School District, Carson City, and many nonprofit organizations, I can represent various voices in the community. I continue to stay active in the community meeting and talking with students, parents, business leaders, and elected officials, which gives me the opportunity to create stronger ties between the school board and the community.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?
Support student attendance and student/family engagement. Students need to be present in the classroom and engage in the learning opportunities provided to be successful. Support Carson City School District efforts to retain and recruit qualified employees. Work towards continuous improvement. Be an active school board member. Collaborate with others and work to adopt a fiscally sound district budgetÂ

Student attendance-work with School District Superintendent, employees, students, and parents to help identify the contributing factors to the absenteeism or truancy and create policy to address this issue. Student attendance impacts student achievement, graduation rate, school district’s budget, and school environment.

Being a parent of 4 children: two attending Carson High School, one attending University of Nevada, Las Vegas and one attending University of Nevada, Reno, combined with my 19 years of experience as a teacher in many grade levels, leadership, and educational background makes me the most qualified for this position.
