Vice President Mike Pence, the head of the National Space Council, introduced 18 astronauts who will train for NASA's Artemis moon-landing program. The group includes nine woman, marking the first time a woman will ever land on the moon.Â
The program will focus on learning to live and work on another world for the benefit of humanity, according to NASA.Â
NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter the Artemis team will prepare humanity for Mars exploration.
The mission is set to land on the moon in 2024.Â
