Reno Christmas Tree 2025

Tonight, the community was able to enjoy holiday festivities at the Reno City Plaza for the annual Christmas tree lighting festival.

Guests were able to enjoy local food and drink vendors, live music, merchandise, and activities for families, like face painting, a train ride, and a visit from Santa himself.

Mayor Hillary Schieve says, "Events like this bring our community together, and I can't wait to turn on the Christmas tree lights and see the holiday magic come to life." She added that the growth of the festival has been great to see.

"The tree lighting is getting bigger and bigger and bigger. It goes to tell you they want to come together. They want to celebrate, and they want to enjoy their community."

We spoke to some event attendees about the special time of the year and the importance of the Christmas tree celebration.

"Love and community and joy, I'm a retired schoolteacher, I just love seeing the kids and families," says Georgia.

"It's a family tradition in my family. It's time to come together," says James.

"It feels like everyone is becoming a family for one night, and it feels like everyone is sharing a bond and having fun," says Josilynn.

"Reno always goes all out for Christmas," says Sabashton.

The festival will also take place Saturday November 29th and the following weekend, Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th.

The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival started Friday.
