An inmate in Plumas County who had fled from custody after appearing in court has been successfully re-captured.

According to a release from the Plumas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO), it all happened Tuesday afternoon just after 2:00 p.m.

The PCSO says that 60-year-old Robert Wahlberg of Beckwourth, California escaped from custody while being loaded up for transport back to the Plumas County Correctional Facility.

Wahlberg fled from the rear of the courthouse, where a correctional officer and an off-duty Sheriff's Court Security Officer who was in the area were able to re-arrest him.

Because of the attempt, Wahlberg is now facing a charge of escape from custody.
