Chain Controls MGN

February 18, 11:20 a.m.

Chains are no longer required along I-80 over Donner Pass.

The clouds gave way to some sun after Saturday's winter storm in Tahoe but a winter storm warning is still in effect starting at 4 p.m.

February 17, 10:00 p.m.

Chain controls on California 88 have been updated to include the area from Mormon Emigrant Trail to Paynesville.

There are now chains controls in place on US-50 from California 89 to Pyramid Creek Road. 

The chain controls on I-80, Mt. Rose Highway, and California 267 remain the same at this time.


February 17, 7:43 p.m.

The chain controls on Mt. Rose Highway have been updated to include the area from State Route 28 to Mt. Rose mile marker 10. 

Chain controls on California 88 have been updated to include the area from Mormon Emigrant Trail to California 89.

The chain controls on I-80 and California 267 remain the same at this time.

An increasing number of chain controls are popping up in the Sierra as winter storms move into the area.

On I-80 controls are in place from Donner Lake Road to Cisco Road.

Chain controls are also in place on Mt. Rose Highway from Mt. Rose mile marker 10 to Fairview Boulevard.

There are also chain controls on California 88 from Kirkwood Lake Road to California 89 and on California 267 from California 28 to Northstar Drive.
