The City of Reno hosted a summer kick-off event at Paradise Park on Saturday, June 1.

The event included information about Rolling Recreation and Junior Rangers, as well as the Food Bank of Nothern Nevada and other vendors.

Rolling Recreation visits each Reno ward twice per month and brings activities such as basketball, football, table tennis, cornhole, nerf guns, Jenga and more.

The Junior Ranger program allows kids to learn about city parks while also learning about ecology, sustainability, orienteering and more. There are guides available at all recreation centers, or you can download one online at this link.

The event took place at Paradise Park, which has seen almost $2 million in renovations since fall of 2022. The biggest change, according to the City of Reno, is the new playground, with a fitness course, ziplines and other equipment. It is the newest playground in the city.

“Summer is all about being outside and making memories,” said Nathan Ullyot, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We have something for everybody this year, and we are excited to get it all started on June 1.”
