Central Lyon County Fire Protection District responded to a power pole plant fire in Silver Springs, Nevada early Sunday morning near Toiyabe and Spruce Streets.

The fire broke out during normal operations around 12:30 a.m., and caused significant damage to the building.

Only one employee was at the plant at the time. They were immediately evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

The fire started during a kiln process where they use diesel to keep wood from rotting.

The fire spread quickly, but firefighters were able to isolate the fire to one area of the facility so it could self-mitigate.

Crews worked hard on the fire for 16 hours with the help of a foam trailer brought in by Storey County Fire Protection District. NV Energy and Southwest Gas also responded to help with the fire.
