The family of one of the survivors of the Grand Sierra Resort shooting is thanking a GSR employee who helped save his life.Â
Early Monday morning Matt Sitler was awaiting a valet ride to the airport with his friends when the suspect opened fire from behind them. Matt was shot multiple times.Â
After the suspect opened fire a GSR valet employee pulled a car into the area, near where Matt was. The employee called out for Matt to come to him and put him in a position for emergency responders to give him aid.Â
This employee is Kade Macedo, a four-year GSR worker whose regular day-to-day turned irregular, when the suspected gunman opened fire.
"This man saved Matt's life by being courageous when shots were still being fired, jumps out of his vehicle, grabs Matt," said Scott Juceam, Matt Sitler's uncle, who has nothing but gratitude for Kade. "I love you. Thank you for saving my nephew. The most important person in our life, you saved him by just being you."Â
Sitler's family surrounded Macedo with support.
Macedo said he said he would do it again, and that it was just "instinct" to react the way he did. He also touched on the effects being in an event like this has,
"You think you're a tough person until you see something like that happen, and I'm going to go get some help and talk to some people because I wake up every day in fear, even though I know I'm in a safe place," said Macedo.
The Sitler family has set up a GoFundMe for Kade and his family which you can find at this link.Â
