The BLM believes a brush fire that charred about 18 acres near Winnemucca on Wednesday was started by people. 

The Bighorn Fire started near Bighorn Road west of Winnemucca late Wednesday morning. 

The Winnemucca Rural Fire District says "the rapid spread of this fire shows that the area is drying out very quickly."
