Fire crews are fighting a lightning-sparked fire near Steamboat Mountain in the Tahoe National Forest.

The fire was reported north of Hell Hole Reservoir around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Forest Service says the fire is currently less than an acre in size, although it is putting up a lot of smoke in the area.

Fire crews say air support is being called in since it is located in remote and rugged terrain.

Firefighters say the Tahoe National Forest received 69 recorded lightning strikes over the past 24 hours.

There's no immediate word on if there are any evacuations or when the fire will be fully contained.
