Update, June 30:
Containment is now at 75% for the Yellow Peak Fire. The size has been reduced to 1,262 acres.
All road closures are now clear.
Fire crews will still be patrolling and securing the fire's edge over the next several days.
Original story, June 27:
A fire burning near northwest of Winnemucca, near the Oregon border is now 600 acres large.Â
The Yellow Peak Fire started around 11 a.m. on Wednesday about two miles east of Yellow Peak Lookout on the Sheldon National Antelope Refuge in Nevada.Â
The fire has prompted road closures at the junctions of County Roads 34 and 34a near the entrance to the Little Sheldon Refuge and the junctions of County Roads 34a and 8a on the east side of the fire.
The fire remains under investigation.Â
