Amazon has confirmed that their fulfillment center at Lemmon Valley in north Reno will be ending operations in August 2025.

At least part of the reason for the closure has to do with the lease expiring on the property.

According to Steve Kelly, a representative from Amazon, “We weigh a variety of factors when deciding where we open new facilities, enhance existing facilities, and close others – including business need as well as how we can best improve the experience for employees, customers, and partners."

There are currently around 500 permanent employees at that fulfillment center.

"In addition to transferring as many employees as possible to other facilities in Reno, we’re providing assistance to employees who are open to moving to another city and staying with Amazon. For those who aren’t, we’ll provide a highly-competitive exit package, including severance, transitional health benefits, and job placement support," said Kelly.

Information provided by Amazon says that the closure of the fulfillment center will not impact Amazon customers in the Reno area.

There is a same-day delivery center being built in south Reno that is expecting to launch in late 2025, and employees from the Reno fulfillment center will be able to obtain jobs at the new facility once it opens.
