At around 6:36 p.m. on May 14, officers with the Sparks Police Department were dispatched to Scheels Sporting Goods in Sparks for a reported theft in progress.

According to store personnel, a female suspect ignored loss prevention officers when confronted and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.

Police arrived and detained the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Patricia Davis, of California.

According to police, Scheels' loss prevention reported that Davis had taken various handbags and wallets worth a total of $955.95.

Additionally, Scheels' loss prevention had reported an earlier theft by Davis on the same day at 2:28 p.m., involving merchandise valued at $2,040.00.

The total value of merchandise stolen on May 14 was $2,995.95.

Police say Davis was also identified as a suspect in a previous theft from the same store on April 21, in which $173.82 worth of merchandise was stolen.

Following the investigation, Davis was arrested and charged with grand larceny of property valued at $1,200 but less than $5,000 and petit larceny.

The Sparks Police Department stated, “The Sparks Police Department has zero tolerance for retail theft, and suspects will be held responsible and prosecuted for these crimes.”

The department added, “In partnership with the Sparks City Attorney’s Office, the ‘Back Our Business’ Initiative remains a top priority in our community.”
