Carson City School District - Teacher Appreciation Week

Bordewich Bray Elementary School in the Carson City School District celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week with a red carpet-themed welcome for its teachers.

The school’s employee entrances were transformed to resemble a movie premiere, featuring a red carpet, flashing cameras, walk-up music, cheering students and staff, microphone interviews, and individual "Academy Award" trophies.

“It was amazing seeing them rolling in from the parking lot in their finest apparel and red-carpet attire,” said Cheryl Richetta, principal at Bordewich Bray Elementary. “This week has been all about recognizing the incredible commitment, talent, and heart our teachers bring to their classrooms every single day.”

Teachers participated in the event by posing for photographs, receiving applause, and taking part in award presentations.

Richetta added, “We wanted to make them feel like the true stars they are. This has been a fun and meaningful way to show our gratitude.”

Award winners from the event included:

  • Best Dressed: Maria Cortez
  • Best Celebrity Impersonation: Haley Brown as Taylor Swift
  • Best Red Carpet Walk: The ASP entourage, consisting of Irma Moreno as Audrey Hepburn, Janet Ingram as security, and Debbie Gutzmann, Kathy Brown, and Rachel Rogers as the entourage

Throughout the week, other schools in the Carson City School District also held appreciation activities for teachers.

These included catered meals, dress-up days, themed treats, gifts, and giveaways.

The initiative was organized by school administrators, parent-teacher organizations, and student leadership groups to ensure teachers across the district felt recognized and appreciated.
