UPDATE July 29 at 1:25 P.M.:

New details have been released regarding the crash involving a train and a car on Monday afternoon at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

According to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene around 4:07 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a single heavily damaged car approximately 200 feet east of Waltham Way, positioned next to a stopped train.

The car’s driver, the sole occupant, was injured and transported by Care Flight to a local hospital.  The driver was transported to the hospital and placed in their Intensive Care Unit with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told deputies the driver had been stuck in traffic and came to a stop on the railroad tracks. As the train approached, the crossing arms, lights, and warning bells activated, but the driver was unable to move the car before it was hit.

No one aboard the train was injured. The train staff were cooperative during the investigation.

The scene of a crash involving a car and a train at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center had been cleared, the Nevada Department of Transportation reports.

Waltham Way, which had been closed in both directions at the scene of the crash, has since reopened.

Multiple agencies are on the scene of a crash involving a train and a car at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Injuries have been reported.

It happened on Waltham Way near Wild Horse Canyon Drive, according to a Facebook post from the Storey County Sheriff's Office.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is reporting that the crash happened just after 4:07 p.m.

Waltham Way is closed in both directions, and people are asked to avoid the area and expect significant delays.

The SCSO and firefighters are on the scene of the crash.

The extent of injuries in the crash and the damage done to the car and train are unknown at this time.
