The Domestic Violence Resource Center is nearing its fundraising goal while construction on a new center is moving onto steel beams and concrete facades.
Upon completion, DVRC’s emergency housing on Vassar Street will expand from 25 to 100 beds, allowing the organization to increase its annual reach to approximately 6,500 survivors and their children.
“Seeing this transform from a blueprint into reality inspires us in our mission to provide safety and support to even more individuals,” said Kristen Kennedy, DVRC’s executive director. “Our previous building was not meant to accommodate the wide range of services we provide, such as legal advocacy, counseling, life-skills activities, financial coaching and other wraparound services. With the construction of our new home, every space has been designed with the intention to bring healing to survivors and their families as soon as they enter through our doors.”
The Center says it's now only $500,000 away from reaching its fundraising goal - after local philanthropy efforts and strategic partnerships.
