Douglas County is inviting the public to its first public workshop to give an update on the Title 20 Consolidated Development code.

The Consolidated Development code sets local requirements for how residents use land and what they can build on, within county lines.

According to Douglas County, their goal is to reconstruct the code, making it more modern and easier to navigate. After the reorganization, they hope the code will be clearer and more predictable for homeowners, builders, and business owners.

According to the Douglas County website, the code will be consolidated and renumbered into 11 clear articles. This will include updating graphics and removing guidelines that are no longer applicable to current building practices.

It will also provide general provisions, zoning districts, and more guidelines to make the process streamlined.

Douglas County is inviting the public to see a presentation on the Title 20 code update on Tuesday, December 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Douglas County CVIC Hall.

According to Douglas County, the update will provide economic vitality with better standards to also meet the adopted Wildland Urban Interface building finishes, which sets guidelines on how to limit fire hazards when building structures.

For more information on the update, visit the Douglas County website.
