It's that time of the year again where the Dragon Lights Festival returns to Reno and displays a new theme of light-up art designs all over the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Gardens within Rancho San Rafael Park.

This year's theme is "Year of the Dragon," where one of the biggest features they're showing off this year is a 100-foot dragon light display flying through cherry blossoms. But this isn't the only thing people can look forward to.

Huiyuan Liu, event manager, says, "And then there are other new themes; we are bringing a winter wonderland this year to play with this because this is the first year we are open in the fall and the winter season."

Liu says they're pushing back the dates to not only serve as an extension of Artown but also so people can see the lights sooner as it starts to get darker earlier. More features have been added in the interactive zone for kids and families to play in and more food trucks are also here to offer a bigger variety of food options.

Liu says this festival takes a lot of time to design and put together every year.

"So for this year we have a crew of 30 people to come in and then we set up everything in about two weeks time, but the whole production installation actually started three or four months ago when we have to come up with a concept and design and then start making and building all of the displays."

One boy named Liam says he likes how the festival changes every year and is located in the botanical gardens, "I like seeing everything in general but also all the colors and all the diversity."

Dragon Lights Festival will be running through November 30th every day from 5pm until 9:30 on weekdays and 10pm on weekends.
