The Elko Police Department made two arrests on Tuesday, one for luring a child or person with mental illness and another on drug charges.

The EPD announced the arrests on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

Officers were tasked with serving an arrest warrant for Shaun Herzog of Elko on a charge of luring a child or person with mental illness using a computer.

The Elko SWAT Team was called out to take Herzog into custody due to the severity of the charge and an abundance of caution, according to the post.

Herzog initially refused to come out, but came out and was taken into custody after the SWAT Team deployed a distractionary device.

Earlier in the day, a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Corey Pavlinek of Spring Creek on drug charges.

It happened in the area of Mountain City Highway, according to the EPD Facebook post.

A police K9 smelled narcotics, and when police searched the car, they found ly 17 grams of methamphetamine.

Pavlinek was arrested and booked into the Elko County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, 14-28 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
