On the evening of December 23, officers from the Winnemucca Police Department were sent to a home in the Weso Street area after a report that a one-year-old child had ingested fentanyl.

Detectives from the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Team (Tri-DENT) were first on scene.

They took immediate action, giving the child naloxone and performing CPR. After a second dose of naloxone and continued resuscitation, the child began breathing and was transported to Humboldt General Hospital for treatment.

During the incident, the child’s mother left the home in a black car. Officers located the car and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not yield and collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80.

The driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Lesley Keever of Winnemucca.

Following the investigation, Keever was arrested and faces charges of driver evading, child abuse or neglect, use of a controlled substance in the presence of a child, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

The investigation remains ongoing, this is a developing story, and any updates will be provided as they are made available.Â
