The war with Iran continues to raise the price of gas. Reno's average price is now over $5 a gallon and there’s no way to know when it might go back down.

Many people aren't happy about it.

People are starting to feel like they've reached a point where they need to make the hard choice of which is more important, groceries or gas.

They say gas has quickly become their biggest expense.

Adrian Villanueva is a college student who says gas prices impact his life completely.

“It really sucks because I mean, like, that's like one of the main reasons why I'm even working right now," he said. "It's to make sure I can afford gas, and I'm in, like, I'm on scholarship, so, like, that's pretty great for, like, the education part, but in terms of traveling, it's really just that, that's my biggest expense.”

Folks are aware that the war is the main reason we keep seeing the price of gas increase every day, but people say they don't understand why it's happening so fast.

They say it seems like it's more than just a few cents difference each time they need to fill up, and they’ve noticed a full tank of gas is only lasting them a handful of days before needing to fill up again.

Villanueva said high gas prices can be expected, but nothing like how they are now. "In general, like gas prices were pretty expensive before, but now, like with the rising, it's just so, man, it's really brutal. I mean, I think I filled up like $30 or $40 last time, and that was like a few days ago, and now I'm back here.”

Something people say is worth looking into is gas stations with reward programs and those with memberships as well.

Folks are able to save a few cents each time when filling up at those, especially if they’re people's regular stops.
