It's that time of year where thousands of vintage cars will be taking over the streets of our region. This event attracts thousands of people from all over the country every year.
Deny Dotson, executive director of Hot August Nights, says, "We get right around 6,000 cars we're expecting to register this year, we sold out at 6,000 last year. That's our cap, but we know there's probably a few more riding around town that are not registered. It's awfully popular for everyone to come to town."
Dotson says over 500,000 people attend Hot August Nights over the course of 10 days, bringing in $150 million into our economy every year.
Some people use this event as an opportunity to build connections and promote their own businesses - including Teardrops Northwest Coachworks, a company that builds matching trailers with vintage vehicles.
Barett Christensen, CEO of Teardrops, says, "We chose here to launch this particular division. We sell well our other teardrops through Teardrops Northwest, but this—the Custom Coachworks—we've already had a lot of interest since we've been here. We haven't been here very long, so we anticipate that we'll get a few orders from this and we're excited."
