Each year, law enforcement agencies gather together at the Nevada Capitol Grounds to honor fallen officers.

This year, an officer from the North Las Vegas Police Department was added to the memorial.

Assistant Chief of North Las Vegas Police Department Adam Hyde told us, "We got 158 officers on this wall, and it shows that they will never be forgotten and their service is going to be remembered forever. Their families remembered forever, and this is something that I really enjoy coming to every year. It's unfortunate, but it's a great opportunity to pay tribute."

Officer Jason Roscow was honored and added to the memorial for his bravery and sacrifices through his 17-year career with the North Las Vegas Police Department.

Roscow was killed in the line of duty after responding to reports of a person waving a gun around.

After being shot multiple times, he was taken to a medical center, where he later died.

Governor Joe Lombardo said, "Law enforcement is not just a profession. It's a calling, a commitment to stand between danger and the communities we serve. A willingness to run toward what others run from, and for many, it has required the ultimate sacrifice."

Officials say Roscow's life reflected the best of law enforcement selflessness, courage, and service to the community.

They say that although they hope to never have to add another name to the memorial, they know one day they will have to.

Storey County Sheriff Mike Cullen told us, "Not everybody has to go to work and put on a bulletproof vest and all that, but unfortunately, we do. And, we just live in that type of world, and that kind of environment, and that's what we do for a living. And we accept that. And we do it for our communities."

Governor Joe Lombardo has issued a proclamation declaring April 30 as Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day in Nevada.
