A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck near Battle Mountain early Wednesday morning. 

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports that the quake hit at 5:35 a.m. about 42 miles away from Battle Mountain.

There's no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
