A man is scheduled to be sentenced in July after he pleaded guilty to luring.
Prosecutors say Luis Sencion-Gonzalez sent sexually explicit messages to what he believed was an underage girl.
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says he initiated contact with a decoy social media page posing as a 15-year-old girl in March of 2024, though the undercover account did not respond until October. The account was operated by a member of the Human Exploitation and Recovery Operation with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors say despite the decoy account making it clear they were a child, Sencion-Gonzalez sent repeated, increasingly sexual messages, including detailing sexual acts he wanted to do.
Conversations continued for several months, before a meeting was set in March of 2025 for the two to connect.
When Sencion-Gonzalez arrived, he was detained by members of the HERO Unit, who had been conducting the operation alongside the Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center.
Sentencing is set for July 22nd.
