Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is aiming to inspire the next generation of youth by offering a free Learn to Snowboard Day.
The offering will happen on Sunday, January 11, from 9:30 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. near the main lodge.
Officials say the event is for ages 4 through 7, and they can try out the resort's custom learn to snowboard specialty snowboard park.
“Learn to Snowboard Day is an opportunity for us to welcome kids into the sport of snowboarding and hopefully generate their interest in making it a lifelong passion,” said Mike Pierce, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe marketing director. “While this will not be a full snowboard lesson, our intention is to start to introduce kids to the basics of snowboarding, and how recreating in the snow can be a ton of fun."
According to organizers, the offering will feature multiple stations and aim to give young riders a chance to enjoy the snow, with no equipment required.
Organizers also say parents are urged to dress their kids in snow pants, a jacket, waterproof shoes, and to bring a helmet.
