Campaign to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence

The Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence is closing out the year with a community effort that brings Northern Nevada businesses and supporters together for one purpose: helping people heal from domestic or sexual violence during a season when support often matters most.

The Coalition launched its Year-End Fundraising Campaign on December 1, and it runs through December 31.

Several Reno businesses have already signed on, including Sweet Apple Yoga, Pantry Products, 10 Torr Distillery, Mesa Rim Climbing Gym, and Reno Public Market.

A few Las Vegas shops are also taking part, though the focus remains on the growing support in the north.

Throughout December, participating locations are offering customers the choice to buy hangable donation slips in increments of $1, $5, or $10.

Each slip can be personalized with a dedication in memory of a life lost, a reason for giving, or a simple message of hope.

The Coalition says the slips will form a visible display meant to show community support for people who continue to recover from violence.

“This campaign is a powerful community initiative,” said Lorena Canales, Fundraising and Event Coordinator for NCEDSV. “Every donation slip and every business that participates helps ensure that advocates and victim survivors have access to life-changing services and support. We welcome any Nevada business that wants to make a meaningful impact this holiday season.”

Funds raised will help support the Coalition’s statewide work, which includes service provider training, public awareness efforts, policy advocacy, and resources for people seeking safety.

The Coalition is inviting more Nevada businesses to join. Interested shops can reach NCEDSV at lorenac@ncedsv.org or by calling (775) 857-8143 for campaign materials and details. Participation is free, simple to set up, and built to strengthen the communities the Coalition serves.
