The Nevada State Police has released information regarding a new scam that has been reported by multiple neighbors in the area.
In the scam, an email is sent from an organization claiming to be "The DMV," and advises the recipients that the email is sent on the behalf of the "Nevada Highway Patrol".
The email then says that the recipient has received a ticket from the Nevada Highway Patrol, and that they must pay for the ticket.
The email usually then moves on to use threatening language, saying that failing to comply with the email can result in additional fines and/or license suspensions.
The Nevada Highway Patrol would like to remind area residents that they do not call, text or send emails regarding overdue fines; in fact, they do not request any personal information over the phone, text, or internet.
