It seems like Nevada Athletics is confident in their choice for new head football coach, and lot of students we spoke with say that they're actually really looking forward to the change for the football season.
"I'm pretty happy about it you know, he's already turned a program around before, so it'll be interesting to see if he can do that here," said Brett Hovde, 3rd year student.
"Knowing that he has a great history with Texas, they did very well when he was there. I'm excited to see what he does, hopefully turn the program around and all that fun jazz," adds Nicholi Garavi, 1st year student.
"I'm kind of happy that we're getting a new coach, kind of going in a new direction and hopefully we can do good next year, and it'll be a change from the recent years of things we've been experiencing," said 4th year student Damajah Yarbrough.Â
Students say that they're really hoping Coach Choate will change the program for the better after a disappointing season with Ken Wilson.
"I think it's definitely an improvement from our last head coach," said Colby Long, 1st year student. "I was very disappointed watching our football team this season so I'm definitely excited to see what he can do."
"He (Wilson) had his moments. He had his ups and downs but ultimately, I think we're making a great decision. Hopefully he'll (Choate) lead this program to the right direction it needs to be," Garavi tells us.
Another student tells us that while he wishes the best for the new head coach, he also hopes that Coach Choate will stick around long term.
Many students have expressed that they're getting tired of seeing their school go through multiple coaches in the past few years.
"If there is some success, I hope that its long-term success as well, not just maybe short-term success," said Sampreet Singh, 4th year student. "And good luck to him on recruiting with Nevada football. I understand with the lack of all the indoor facilities and things of that sort, obviously you know, it makes it tough so hoping the best."
Overall, the Wolfpack seems just as confident with the decision of their new head coach. And students are excited to see what he will bring to the table.
