Three people were transported to a nearby hospital after a wrong-way crash on U.S. 50 in Carson City Wednesday night.
NHP says around 8:15 p.m. a trooper was working in the area near Flint Road when the trooper was almost hit by a Infiniti sedan going the wrong way and crashing into a Hyundai Sante Fe which then caught fire.
NHP says the trooper immediately started removing the people from inside the fiery Hyundai, ensuring the fire was extinguished, and requesting additional emergency resources.
Once the Hyundai occupants were safe, the trooper then began giving emergency care.
NHP says a preliminary investigation indicates that the Infiniti was heading west - the wrong way - on U.S. 50 near Flint Road when it crashed into the front of Sante Fe SUV.
The Infiniti driver, a woman, was transported to a local area hospital with reportedly serious injuries.
The Hyundai driver, a woman, was transported to a local area hospital with reportedly serious injuries.
The Hyundai passenger, a child, was transported to a local area hospital with reportedly no injuries.
“The Nevada Highway Patrol would also like to thank the Good Samaritans who stopped and helped our Trooper with the initial response and rescue efforts,” said Nevada Highway Patrol Major Anthony Munoz. “Protecting life is truly a community effort.”
