The Reno Police Department has released critical incident video from last month's mass shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort.
The video, which includes body cam footage of the incident, can be found at this link. It contains images and audio that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.
In the video, officers can be seen arriving at the GSR and immediately coming across the suspect, who starts shooting at them.
Officers fire multiple shots back at the suspect before being told to hold their fire because the suspect is down.
Police then approach the suspect and find his gun.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with Sparks Police taking the lead.
"I understand the fear and uncertainty that follow these incidents, but we want to ensure you we are committed to protecting every member and visitor of our community," said Nance.

To those GSR team members who assisted the injured, comforted guests, and supported one another—your courage and care embody the spirit of hospitality that defines us.
For nearly 50 years, guests have trusted Grand Sierra Resort as a place to gather and create memories. That trust guides our next steps. As one of Northern Nevada’s largest employers, we have a responsibility to provide meaningful livelihoods for our team, and welcome guests and
team members with an unwavering commitment to safety and care.
We will continue to support those affected and move forward together with compassion and resolve."
Update (7/31/2025):
The suspect in Monday's mass shooting has died, days after a shootout with police at the Grand Sierra Resort.Â
Sparks Police, the leading agency in the investigation, made the announcement on Thursday morning, only saying that 26-year-old Dakota Hawver died overnight.Â
No other details were immediately released.Â
He had been listed in critical condition after a shootout with police.Â
Police are still searching for a possible motive in the deadly shooting.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, a surviving victim reunited with a GSR employee who played a big part in saving his life.
Family members say Matt Sitler was waiting for a ride at the GSR valet early Monday morning when he was shot multiple times from behind.
Family members say an employee, Kade Macedo, rushed to his side to help.
"This man saved Matt's life by being courageous when shots were still being fired, jumps out of his vehicle, grabs Matt, and Matt collapsed and fell backwards unconscious," said Scott Juceam, Sitler's uncle.
Police previously identified the victims who died in the shooting as 33-year-old Justin Aguila of Chatsworth, California, 33-year-old Andrew Canepa of Newbury Park, California, and 66-year-old Angel Martinez, who was a Sparks resident.
Several other people were injured including one officer who was hurt by glass fragments during the incident.
UPDATE:Â
A public multi-faith candlelight vigil was held on Wednesday at Unity Center of Reno for the victims of Monday's mass shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed and Unity Minister Toni King organized the event.
It included prayers from various denominations of Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha'i, Native American and Pagan faiths, in various languages.
Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, said having these gatherings after such a tragedy is their ethical and moral duty.
"It is happening right in our neighborhood," he said. "If we don't get together on this issue things can get out of control, so it sends a strong message that we are here together although we all believe in different faith traditions, so that is why I'm bringing everyone together."
The leaders say gathering together after something like this sends a strong message, one they hope helps to heal the community.
"It's that time of connection where people can feel held and feel connected to other community members," said Toni King, the Minister at Unity Center of Reno. "It's really about being together and seeing the pain in one another and acknowledging that."
King adds, "Our hearts always go out to the community at these times and that energy needs to move so the best thing we know how to do is just to pray and hold space and be that presence for the community."
If you could not attend, the service was also livestreamed.Â
Police have identified the victims who died in the shooting as 33-year-old Justin Aguila of Chatsworth, California, 33-year-old Andrew Canepa of Newbury Park, California, and 66-year-old Angel Martinez, who was a Sparks resident.
Aguila and Canepa were in town for a bachelor party and were shot from behind while waiting in the valet area for a ride to the airport, according to a release from the Sparks Police Department.
Martinez was driving through the parking lot of the GSR, away from the building, when he was ambushed by the suspect, who was hiding behind a car, before shooting at Martinez several times.
Aguila and Martinez died at the scene, while Canepa died during emergency surgery at an area hospital.
People who knew the victims have spoken about the impact their lives had.
Canepa owned a cafe, and some of his customers are memorializing him there.Â

"He is very sweet, such great customer service, we love him so much," said Maria. "He will be missed."
Other customers, like Rick, also spoke highly of him,
