A additional northbound lane has been opened on Pyramid Highway as construction winds down for the season.
A third travel lane opened on December 19 on about a half-mile section of the highway from Los Altos Parkway to around the area of the Blue Gem Estates entrance.
Drivers in the area will see the following changes as the construction project goes forward:
- A lane previously designated as a merge lane from Los Altos Parkway to northbound Pyramid has been changed and extended into the new through travel lane.
- Drivers turning north from Los Altos Parkway onto northbound Pyramid Highway will need to stop and yield to oncoming traffic.
- Construction work will wrap up for the season in early January, and will return in the spring.
- The work zone—including work zone speed limits—will remain in place.
The project is expected to be complete by summer of 2025, and when finished will have widened around one and a half miles of Pyramid Highway between Queen Way and Los Altos Parkway from four to six lanes.
In addition, three quarters of a mile of existing four-lane road from Los Altos Parkway to Golden View Drive will have been reconstructed, and many other enhancements to safety, aesthetics, and drainage will have been made.
