A Silver Springs man has been arrested on charges including kidnapping and intimidating a witness after allegedly driving a juvenile girl to Reno, where she then left the state.
On Tuesday, September 16, around 6:30 a.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office got a report of a juvenile girl missing from a home in Silver Springs, according to a release from the LCSO.
In their investigation, deputies and investigators identified 31-year-old Gordon Alexander Bayne of Silver Springs as a person of interest and found that Bayne had taken the girl to Reno while knowing she planned to leave the state.
Bayne also allegedly tried to dissuade another juvenile witness from cooperating with law enforcement.
During a traffic stop in Silver Springs involving Bayne, he at first denied involvement in the incident, but investigators were able to confirm his involvement, according to the release.
At around 9 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department located and safely recovered the juvenile at a Greyhound bus station. The girl was then released to her parents.
Bayne was arrested around noon and booked into the Lyon County Jail on charges including kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, child neglect, intimidating a witness, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and obstructing a public officer.
His bail has been set at $187,280.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at (775) 463-6600 or email detective@lyon-county.org referencing case number 25LY03613.
