The Reno Police Department has released an incident video regarding the shooting death of Kristopher Gari, which includes bodycam footage, and information regarding the two days leading up to the shooting.

The video is behind an age gate, due to the graphic content of the video.

Update (11/20, 12:10 p.m.)

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died in police shooting near 4th Street in Reno early Monday.

The coroner says 25-year-old Kristopher Gari of Reno died on scene, from multiple gunshot wounds. 

The Sparks Police Department is handling the law enforcement investigation for this case.

The shooting remains under investigation.

4:30 P.M. UPDATE 11/18/2024:

A suspect was fatally shot by an officer with the Reno Police Department early Monday morning in northwest Reno.

It happened in the area of 4th Street and Keystone Avenue just before 1:40 a.m.

According to a release from the Sparks Police Department, the suspect had fled from Reno officers twice in his car during incidents over the weekend.

On Monday morning the suspect and an officer got into an altercation, resulting in shots being fired by police.

The suspect was pronounced dead on scene after officers and REMSA tried life-saving measures.

The Sparks Police Department will be the lead investigative agency in the shooting, with assistance from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.

A person is dead after being shot by police in west Reno early Monday morning.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. near the Maverik gas station on West Fourth Street.

Police say officers in the area noticed a suspect who was wanted on a warrant, inside a car.

"Officers located a wanted subject behind me at the Maverik. They attempted to take that individual into custody. That individual is deceased,” says Chris Johnson, Reno Police.

Reno Police say one officer suffered minor injuries. 

Sparks Police Department will be taking over the investigation.
