RNO Thanksgiving Travel

Thanksgiving travel is expected to remain busy at Reno-Tahoe International Airport as flight schedules return to normal and projected passenger volumes remain strong following the Federal Aviation Administration's lifting of recent flight reductions.

Airport officials said travel levels are anticipated to fall within the range of last year’s holiday numbers.

The airport expects November 25, 26, and 30 to draw the largest crowds, with an estimated 14,000 to 15,000 people moving through the terminal on each of those days.

Officials said those totals are higher than the airport’s average day, and passengers should plan ahead.

People traveling through RNO are urged to arrive at least two hours before boarding, check parking availability in advance, and be prepared for overflow options.

Several construction projects under the MoreRNO program may also affect traffic around the Loop Road, including work on the Central Utility Plant, the Police and Airport Authority Headquarters, and the Ground Transportation Center.

Inside the terminal, travelers can view the latest exhibit in the depARTures gallery. The installation, titled Instructors in Practice: Nature and Environment, highlights work by Nevada Museum of Art Museum School Instructors and features art presented in the mediums they teach.

Paws 4 Passengers therapy dogs are also scheduled to visit the airport from November 24 through 26 and on November 28 to offer stress relief to travelers.
