Veterans Day isn't for another week, but some people are already getting started and hosting events to honor our veterans. The Rehoboth Holy Temple hosted a service on Sunday to show their appreciation.

This service was filled with high spirits and energy. People were singing songs together, praying, cheering, and listened to guest speakers who have served our country.

One veteran tells us he is extremely grateful for the love and support from his community and says it's important for everyone to spread their appreciation.

Will Williams, United States Navy veteran, says, "I think it's important to honor the veterans because they're all around us. You know they're around us in small part and in big part and a lot of the times you don't really notice them because they're not in uniform anymore and they are still very very important."

Not only did the church shower our veterans with song and prayer, but they also have been awarded certificates that recognize their service. They also received gifts and were given the opportunity to win a television in a raffle.

One of the guest speakers, Major General Ondra Berry, also mentioned those who are struggling with mental illness after they served. They may not be fighting out in the field anymore; however, some veterans are still fighting internally after spending so many years in the military.

Williams tells us the importance of looking after those who are struggling. He says, "You get isolated out there and then that's when the enemy comes in and attacks you inside and out so show them your love, show them your support, and they will definitely appreciate it."

Williams calls this ceremony a full circle moment. You leave to honor your community and you come back to your community honoring you. Veterans Day is this Saturday so thank a veteran when you can.
