Compassion Care Hospice and Nevada Fine Arts held an art exhibition to honor Robert Henry, a hospice care patient who has always dreamed of showcasing his artwork.
Henry was overwhelmed and very happy to see all of the people who came to see his work.
Today was the first time his art has ever been on display, and he hopes that his art can inspire others to create instead of destroy.
"What we need is more of this, and I paint this because I'm trying to show people there's another way of living, there's another way of doing things, besides killing each other every day like we do," said Henry.
Henry has been painting and sculpting for over 40 years.
All of the art put on display today has never been seen before and has been sitting in storage for years.
After members of the hospice care team found out more about Henry's story and how much art meant to him, they were inspired to figure out a way to honor him and his life's passion.
"My brain clicks and says how do I solidify this with him? And I thought let's put on a Robert Henry art exhibition because he will never forget this, and he will know that he will never be forgotten," said Joseph Galata, volunteer coordinator with Compassion Care Hospice.
To continue honoring Henry and his art, Nevada Fine Arts will keep the work on display for multiple days and each piece of artwork will be for sale.
