All kinds of recreational activities are sure to be enjoyed over the Memorial Day weekend - the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) wants to make sure you stay safe.
Officials say they anticipate seeing increased activity at the Moon Rocks off-road area near Pyramid Lake; they ask all visitors to the area to follow the following rules:
- Do not operate any vehicles while impaired
- Discharging firearms is strictly prohibited
- Fireworks are not permitted
- Stay within your skill level when driving off-road vehicles
- Report any unsafe or unlawful behavior immediately
WCSO deputies will be keeping an eye on the area to make sure that neighbors stay safe and follow the rules to maintain the safety of everyone.
In addition, WCSO has a couple more tips for those traveling on this holiday:
- Secure your home(s) and vehicle(s) before leaving town
- If possible, let a trusted neighbor know you'll be gone, so they can report any suspicious activity
