A University of Nevada, Reno football player has been indefinitely suspended from the team after being arrested for drug-related charges.
DB Keyshawn Cobb, part of Coach Jeff Choate's "RenoVation 2024" signing class, has been arrested, booked and is being charged three charges related to the possession of marijuana.
One of the charges, Conspiracy to Violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, can be considered a felony on the first offense.
Nevada Athletics has released a statement regarding Cobb:
"Nevada Athletics is aware of this situation, and is working to gather more information at this time.
Keyshawn Cobb has been suspended indefinitely from the Nevada Football team."
While both medical and recreational marijuana use is legal in the state of Nevada, federal law prohibits the use of marijuana, including for medical purposes, on college and university campuses that receive federal funding, per the University of Nevada, Reno's administrative manual.
This is a developing story, and we will provide more details as we receive them.
