A woman convicted of fatally shooting her sister's boyfriend in 2021 has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years served. 

A jury found Katrina Carvalho guilty of First Degree Murder with the use of a firearm – a sentencing enhancement under the law will be imposed on January 15, 2025 by the Honorable Judge Egan Walker.

Carvalho was arrested in December of 2021 in Los Angeles County after fleeing Washoe County after the shooting

Authorities say she shot 25-year-old Vintell Johnson several times after an argument on Valentine's Day at an apartment complex on El Rancho Drive.

He later died at a nearby hospital.

Sparks Police need your help finding a woman suspected of murdering a 25-year-old man on El Rancho Drive in February. 

Police say Katrina Carvalho is wanted for open murder with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of Vintell Johnson. 

She is also wanted on an unrelated warrant from the Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation Division.
