Reno Police responded to a major injury crash early Friday evening.

It happened on Somersett Parkway west of Mae Anne Avenue around 5 p.m. according to a release from the City of Reno.

A car was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Somersett and struck a car that was going westbound head-on.

A third car, also heading westbound, then crashed into the first westbound car.

The driver and only occupant of the eastbound car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Three people in the first westbound car were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither person in the second westbound car needed to go to the hospital.

Authorities say alcohol impairment and speed are factors in the crash.

The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Reno Police Department's non-emergency line at (775) 334-2677 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 or secretwitness.com.
