Sunday, April 21 marks the start of National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
It started in 1981 as a call to action to create safe environments for crime victims to share what has happened to them.
The week is dedicated to teaching others about victimization and sharing resources for those impacted.Â
One of the resources available locally for crime victims is the victim services unit at the Reno Police Department.
This unit provides services to victims of crime and their families or other survivors. To reach them, you can call (775) 657-4519.
For domestic violence specifically, a couple local organizations are Safe Embrace and the Domestic Violence Resource Center.
The 24-7 hotline for domestic violence can be reached at (800) 799-7233.
National Crime Victims' Rights Week runs through April 27.
