The Trump administration is pushing forward with a $46 billion border wall from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. In Texas's Big Bend region, landowners are resisting, complicating the project. They argue the wall is unnecessary in an area with rugged terrain and low border crossings. Many are refusing to give up their land, and there have been lawsuits. The administration has waived environmental protections to proceed, but local opposition is strong. Landowners are preparing for court battles, hoping to delay construction until after the midterms, when they believe scrutiny could alter plans.
